We’re partnering with a leading global (re)insurer looking to appoint a senior Construction & Engineering Underwriter into their APAC team, based in Sydney.

This is a broker-facing role with a strong regional mandate across Australia & New Zealand, underwriting large corporate engineering and construction risks and contributing to a growing, technically-driven portfolio.

The Role

• Underwrite and manage a portfolio of large corporate Engineering and Construction risks in line with appetite and profitability targets.
• Build and develop relationships with brokers, reinsurance brokers and corporate clients.
• Identify and convert new business opportunities across target segments.
• Analyse risk submissions, negotiate terms and structure solutions for complex projects.
• Contribute to portfolio insights, market intelligence and strategic growth initiatives.
• Work closely with regional stakeholders across underwriting, claims and distribution.

About You

• 5+ years’ experience in Construction / Engineering insurance or reinsurance as a Senior/ Underwriter Or Broker (if you’ve ever considered a move into Underwriting, let’s talk).
• Strong understanding of project risks (infrastructure, civil, energy or major builds).
• Confident engaging with brokers and clients, to continue building the portfolio.
• Commercial mindset with the ability to balance growth and underwriting discipline.
• Engineering background (ideal but not essential).
